The Consultancy aims to the study for improvement of water supply and sanitation to the communities served by Hospitals and Health centers of the Districts of Karongi and Rutsiro. The water supply and sanitation systems to be improved as a result of this study are comprised as follows:

• 2 hospitals and 14 health centers having different drinking water networks, sanitation and hygiene facilities in Karongi District.
• 1 hospital and 9 health centers having different drinking water networks, sanitation and hygiene facilities in Rutsiro District.

Description of services provided by the company personnel :

• Community Mobilization;
• Review of documents to ascertain water supply sources, water quality, demand and supply, affordability, sanitation and the existing infrastructure as well as the recommended infrastructure to realize the goals of the project;
• Determination of adequacy of water supply works in concerned hospitals and health centers;
• Analyze the current consumption figures and demand projections;
• Acquire official population and socio-economic data of the project area from the institutions in charge,
• Acquire official data of patients and staff of the hospitals and health centers concerned by the project from hospitals or health center or the ministry of health;
• Produce projections of patients and staff of hospitals and health centers concerned by the project;
• Carrying out detailed social-economic survey within the concerned areas;
• Topographic surveys of the existing and possible extension of water supply schemes and buildings of all concerned hospitals and health centers;
• Conduct a diagnostic of existing sanitation and hygiene systems and infrastructures;
• Conduct a diagnostic of existing rainwater harvesting and stormwater collection and evacuation systems and infrastructures;
• Conduct a diagnostic of existing solid waste management and infrastructures;
• Assess the needs in water, sanitation and hygiene systems and infrastructures and propose their rehabilitation or improvement options taking into account of the existing and projected figures of patients and staff of hospitals and health centers;
• Do all necessary and required detailed engineering designs and final sizing and location for the proposed rehabilitation, improvement and extension of the components of the water supply schemes;
• Do all necessary and required detailed engineering designs for the proposed rehabilitation, improvement and new components of sanitation and hygiene systems;
• Prepare all necessary detailed studies reports;
• Prepare Bills of Quantities of the proposed works and tender documents;
