Description of the Project: The Consultancy for developing WASH Standards aims to review and standardize concepts, definitions of improved and unimproved facilities, indicators, methodology and reporting for sector performance monitoring to avoid any discrepancies in WASH data.

Description of services provided by the company personnel :

• Review the definitions of various concepts (access, coverage, use, improved/unimproved, etc.), norms and standards (quality and quantity, distance) used in WATSAN sector;
• Review the definitions of key hygiene concepts (environmental health, hygienic materials, etc.) and hygiene practices (hand-washing, personal hygiene, household water safety plans, etc.)
• Review the definitions of WASH facilities (water sources, infrastructures and latrines) and solid waste and wastewater facilities);
• Categorize WASH facilities in improved and unimproved types at Household, institutional and public levels;
• Propose single definitions for the above-mentioned concepts, norms, standards, facilities and practices
• Develop tools for tracking the progress of use of the single definitions by the sector partners;
• Propose a strategy to disseminate approved WASH Standards;
